AYKO Bolsters Shopify Department

Is Shopify the right solution for your business in the 2020 world of eCommerce? As part of our commitment to delivering innovative, industry-leading eCommerce solutions, we’re always on the lookout for new, innovative and evolving opportunities to better serve the unique business needs of our clients.

One of the most significant advantages of Magento is its extensive flexibility and fine-grained control over every facet of the store experience. We are proud to be the UK’s largest Magento solutions partner and leverage Magento’s powerful feature set to deliver award-winning eCommerce experiences to leading brands, from Menkind to Bigjigs.

However, not every client needs that level of power and flexibility. In some instances, the cost of development and ongoing maintenance of Magento may be unnecessary and better spent elsewhere, delivering increased value to your business through expanded marketing services and conversion rate optimisation.

That’s why AYKO is proud to announce the expansion of its Shopify department, which will allow us to bring our extensive eCommerce experience to the SaaS (Software as a Service) market.

Have you considered the potential benefits of choosing Shopify as your new eCommerce platform?

We’ve already achieved Shopify Partner status and qualified for all the Shopify Partner certifications currently available, including App Development and Theme Development, and we’re excited to offer an alternative solution to meet your business needs.

Why Shopify?

Shopify’s position as the dominant SaaS eCommerce platform is undisputed, and the platform has rapidly grown to become a powerful, recognisable, and trusted solution for over a million stores of all sizes. Their enterprise-grade Shopify Plus platform alone serves over 5,300 brands, processing over 10,000 checkouts per minute and offering merchants an average of 126% year-on-year growth.

AYKO can now build upon this extensive expertise with bespoke apps, stunning creative, CRO, and SEO – allowing Shopify to handle updates, security patches, and maintenance while freeing up more time to focus on delivering a holistic, bespoke experience and more budget to enhance your marketing campaigns.

Shopify’s immense popularity also makes it a compelling platform for a huge variety of integrations. We can leverage our trusted partners as well as Shopify’s extensive App Store to unlock unique opportunities to engage customers and grow your business.

Which platform is right for me?

With the end of life for Magento 1 pending, many merchants are looking to re-platform their stores before the June 2020 deadline. The migration presents an excellent opportunity to take stock of your requirements and choose the right path forward for you and your business. While many merchants are migrating to Magento 2, some are choosing to look at SaaS platforms like Shopify. If you’re not sure which way to head, here are some quick tips for choosing the right platform for your business.

You might prefer Magento if:

    1. You have a high-turnover store and need flexibility in which payment provider to use.
    2. You need full control over the entire store, including the checkout and/or admin.
    3. You’re willing to invest in ongoing development, security patches, and maintenance.
    4. You want to leverage Magento’s extensive range of services.

Shopify might be a good option if:

    1. You’re looking for a lower initial cost to launch and lower ongoing maintenance costs.
    2. You need the ability to make rapid changes to optimise your store’s performance.
    3. You’re willing to use Shopify Payments to process transactions.
    4. You want to integrate eCommerce solutions into another technology stack, like an app or CMS-driven brochure site.

With the growth of our Magento 2 department and the expansion of our Shopify department, we’re excited to offer our customers the gift of choice in 2020. If you’re looking to replatform or create a new store, we can provide advice on which platform to select to maximise your profitability and delight your customers.

Telltale Signs Your Magento 2 Project Has Gone Off Track

With the impending deadline for Magento 1 end of life in June 2020, many merchants have already migrated or in the process of migrating from Magento 1 to Magento 2.

While many Magento 2 merchants are already experiencing the benefits of a more robust platform, we have also seen an increasing number of enquiries from those who are not satisfied with their Magento 2 store. Currently one in three of our enquiries are from merchants concerned their build has not been carried out correctly and about the effect, this is having on their overall eCommerce performance and platform security.

Telltale signs your Magento 2 project has gone off track

Reduced SEO performance

With any website relaunch, search engines have to re-evaluate your site with the new design and a small dip in SEO performance can be expected initially. That being said, if performance hasn’t evened out or improved after a few days, or you’ve experienced a substantial decline, this could be one of the first indications that there are fundamental issues with your website. Keep a close eye on your KPI’s and compare this with your previous site’s performance.

Reduced site speed

Reduced speed can affect the usability of the website and lead to abandoned user sessions and carts, and ultimately frustrated site users. There are various tools you can use to measure the speed of your website, including Google PageSpeed Insights.

Security issues

Most commonly, security issues are caused by lack of upgrades to the latest version of Magento and installed extensions. We have seen Magento 2 build projects to take so long to be completed that the store has been launched on a massively outdated version increasing the risk of compromise due to the available security patches released in later versions not being present.

For merchants experiencing any or all of the above, our Magento 2 certified team offer a Magento 2 Recovery Project service. We’ve undertaken several Recovery Projects which we have inherited from another developer, agency or in-house team and have identified the priority issues and worked with the brand to stabilise and improve the site.

Want more information on how to spot if your Magento 2 project has gone astray? We’ve put together a useful guide which will help you understand the severity of the issues you’re facing and what steps to take next to get your project back on track.
